Racial Harmony Day

Yesterday was Racial Harmony Day. As usual, the kids came dressed in their traditional costumes. Unfortunately, not as many came dressed for the day as compared to the lower primary. The novelty must be wearing off for them. Here's a picture of the people I interact with daily...

Bad Week

This week has been very bad for me at work. (I think it will be so for the next 2 weeks at least) I realised it's always so easy to make criticisms. And the criticisms are just fault finding if the feedback provided is nothing constructive.

Since I've been a victim, I shall make a conscious effort to praise my kids from now on. Or at least coat the 'criticisms' with something constructive...

Parents

Today I received feedback from my HOD that one irrate parent who refused to identify himself had called the school to ask why I kept forcing his child to complete the tasks for the Young Scientist Badge (something like a task card where they had to earn 20 stars to get a badge).

Oh my gosh! I didn't know that making a student do his work would also warrant a 'complain' call. Tell me what am I to do??

MOE Excel Fest

Yesterday was MOE Excel Fest. It's a yearly event held by the ministry to let the public participate in classroom lessons that teachers carry out.

My group and I must have been very lucky to get selected. The months leading to the actual presentation was madness. So much to prepare!

Anyway, our lesson was an integrated one combining English, Music and Art based on the famous artist Vincent van Gogh (heard of him?!). It's not as bad as it seemed. The feedback from the participants were excellent. I'm just so glad its over!

Below are some photos from the session.

World Cup

It's almost the end of the World Cup. I've never been a fun of soccer (maybe except Malaysia Cup ions ago) but since World Cup happens once every 4 years, I thought I should be part of the action too.

Alas, I've got no SCV at home!! Fortunately for coffee shops, in particular the one downstairs, I managed to catch 3 matches live! Haha. Would like to watch more but the unearthly timing of the matches have caused a strong repulsion to me.

Maybe I can watch the match on Ch 5 tonight (Portugal Vs France) since I am on MC tmr...

Disclaimer: I am truely sick k.. not chao geng ah!

Term 3 of School

School has started again. Feel recharged to take on 40 pupils again. Once again, I can be the queen of the class and terrorize them again. Muah hahaha!!

Opps.. I think I ought to set the record straight and rephrase my previous sentence, in case some of you get overly concerned about the state of education here.

Corrections:

School has started again. Feel recharged to take on 40 pupils again. How I missed them during these 4 weeks. Once again, I can impact their lives and impart new knowledge to them everyday. Nurture lives. Join the noble profession. Be a teacher. =)

Genting

After my HK trip, I made another trip to Genting. I've never been to Genting despite all these years... Something refreshing for me. Not that much interested in the casinos.. except the rides. I must be getting old. Am not very adventurous when it came to choice of rides. Took the usual rides like roller coaster (including the ones that turn 360 deg, upside down and all) but anything more happening than that would leave me sitting by the side watching over the bags. Haha...
