Underwear

I had a complain from the office staff today. Apparently, one of my boys had been up to some mischief and was called by the office staff for some 'prep talk'. To cut the long story short, this naughty boy had reported that his name was 'UNDERWEAR' when asked for his name and class, before running away! Thank goodness the other 2 boys with him owed up and gave the poor clerk their correct names and class.

Tsk tsk... How shall I handle this child??

a) Show him an underwear, put it right next to his face, make him realize that his face doesn't look like an underwear (at all) and therefore reaffirm that his name is XXX and not the former?

b) Call that his middle name since he has been obsessed with it yesterday and today? I kept hearing say this word in class.

c) Call his mother to complain about his ill behaviour and disrespect to office staff?

Decisions, decisions, decisions!

New Year Goodies

It's slightly more than a month since CNY, but I'm still having trouble clearing those New Year goodies!! I must have been very greedy and bought almost everything I could lay my hands on. You see, I like to have variety.... eating a little of this and munching a little of that.

And so, I was happily feasting on a few of those Kueh Bulu yesterday while watching TV and enjoying my leisurely Sunday...

Today I found the remaining Kueh Bulu at the sink. (The Husband had left it there) Upon closer examination, I realized that they were mould infested and way past the expiry date! OMG! Thank God I didn't end up with a tumy upset after the mini Kueh Bulu 'buffet' I had.

Lessons Learnt:
1) Check condition of food before consumption
2) Don't buy so much goodies next time

It's just a waste of food and $$.

Hope

Isn't this picture of the rising sun beautiful? Took it as I was walking to school some weeks ago.

Kumpung Days

The school holiday that just passed was my most 'happening' ever. Yesterday I went to catch fish with The Husband and his friends.

They said they wanted to go fishing... but I was conned! They went to catch fish instead!! Not only that, they drove to some ulu part of the island, parked the car and hiked about 20 minutes (climbling through mud, getting my show stuck in it, climbling up small hills, through tree branches and slopes) before we reached some pond-like thingy that had loads of small fish swimming in it!!

It was really fun.. but as I told them, I am a city girl. Next time, I'll rather stay at home and play with Barbie dolls than catch fish the kumpung way.

The kumpung boys at work.

Wimps

I'm back from the camp!! It's absolutely tiring. Had to spend my whole weekend recuperating.

Not that I had to do anything too demanding during the camp. My main job was to be around to maintain discipline, save some instances when I had to lift some girls' butts and waists so that they could climb the low wall or reach out for the monkey bar. Other than that, the instructors ran the whole show.

My most challenging jobscope while at the camp was to 'mother' the kids. Some of them simply cannot make it. I do not mean not being able to climb the low wall or nagivating the road in pitch dark.

On the first night, a boy came to me and complained of nose and mouth pain (What illness is that?), despite no signs of discomfort.

Me: "How painful is that?"
Boy: "Very pain."
Me: "So how? What shall we do?"

I dismissed him after advising him to drink some water and making sure that he was well, which I bet he was.

On the 2nd night, he came to me again.

Boy: "My stomach very pain."
Me: "How painful is that?"
Boy: "Very pain."
Me: "Did you go to the toilet?"
Boy: " I got no feeling of going to the toilet."

Once again, he stumped me. I was sure that he was 'chao geng-ing' AGAIN but I had to be careful. So I sent him to the sick bay. 30 minutes later when I went back to check on him, he was sleeping like a dead log.

There were also quite a few instances of boys missing mummy and couldn't sleep at night. Suddenly, all the teachers, especially the female ones turned into part-time mummies, comforting them and coaxing them to sleep.

OMG! What will the future of our nation be with wimps like them?!

3D2N Holiday

I am going for a free 3D 2 N holiday on Wednesday. Sounds cool eh... except that this 3D 2N thingy is the annual P5 camp. Alas, I am teaching that dreaded level and as the form teacher, I would have to be present during the camp.

I am not sure if I am excited or dreading the camp. Its been such a long time since I went for a full outdoor camp. I just can't *wait* to feed the mossies there. Sigh sigh.

Finally Down!

With all the pigging out during CNY, I'm finally down! I'm having a (mild) fever!! Finally I can get my rest accumulated since god-knows-when...

In case you think that this rest day (despite the fever) is very welcomed and I am a 'chao nuah-er', actually no lah... Thought twice about not going to work today because the kids are having CA this week. I have 3 sets of exam papers to mark. Plus I am the setter for the Science Paper today. I had to get my HOD to help me check the papers with the kids. And of course there is CCA and remedial today. Had to get another colleague to cover me too. Now I owe them big big for helping me out.

Anyways, I managed to get all these sorted out. So I'm here lazing around at home when the whole world is at work. Think I'd better go to sleep or clear some marking this afternoon or I'll be wasting my precious MC.
